Passion for Watercraft Restoration

Craftsmanship with passion

Born Out Of The Joy Of Boating

From water skiing, wake boarding and now just cruising the mighty Mississippi with family and friends, I gained a great respect for not only the water, but the watercraft. I, along with others, believe that boats have a soul and will take care of their captains. With that, I purchased a 1989 Chris Craft Cruiser from a retired captain with the idea that she needed renewed and proudly put back in the water. Today she is restored not only aesthetically,  but with 2 new engines, new canvas with isinglass, upholstery, carpeting and more including lots of elbow grease to shine!  Having given new life to my Chris Craft, she has carried her captain with many friends and family on the mighty Mississippi. We have been helping captains renew their boats with needed repairs and renovations.

Isinglass, also called clear vinyl windows, typically offers good visibility within a 5–7-year lifespan. The flexible material can be rolled up or down and can be part of the canvas enclosures. As the isinglass ages and becomes brittle, it can often be replaced in an existing canvas combination, or complete enclosures can be replaced if required. New screens are often replaced with the Isinglass or can be replaced separately.

Update or repair your boat upholstery with marine-grade materials, including mildew-resistant foam and UV-resistant thread. Adding beautiful snap-in woven flooring transforms your deck into a great entertainment space. It resists wear, fading, soil and mold; it's a great maintenance-free addition to any boat. Choose from the many styles and colors available.

Say About Us

We met Paul through mutual boating friends. He has done 2 projects for us. The first one was exterior window treatments and the second one was interior cushions for our booth-style seating.  The way he pays attention to every detail sure makes a perfect job. We will use him again in the future. We highly recommend Nautical Threads!

I contracted with Nautical Threads to have my old Bimini top replaced. I deeply appreciated Paul Amann's professional attitude and attention to detail, and loved the fact that he was very easy to work with and communicated at every stage of the project.

Needless to say, the new Bimini top fits perfectly (again, thanks to Paul's attention to detail since my old Bimini top was very badly stretched and torn in places). I have since rehired him to do other projects on my boat.  I would highly recommend Nautical Threads.

Paul has completed several projects on our cruiser, Lady Linda. He constructed side and back curtains and recovered the captain’s chair on the bridge. He is currently working on upholstery for the forward berth area. Paul approaches each project with care and accuracy. He checks his work once installed and makes adjustments if necessary. We would recommend his services for any project you may have on your boat.
